About me

I am British but grew up in France. I did the British option of the option internationale du baccalauréat (OIB) and, encouraged by my History teacher at the time, went on to read Modern History at the University of Oxford.

After university I moved to London and worked as the website editor of History Today magazine. This led me to research and write my book Dans le secret des archives britanniques (Calmann-Lévy, 2012) which explored British views of French 20th century history. I discovered teaching while promoting my book.

I was invited to lead a session at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle based on one of the chapters in my book. Following this session, I was offered teaching positions at the Lycée Français and the Collège Français Bilingue de Londres which were opening their first Section Internationale classes. I immediately enjoyed teaching more than any of my previous jobs. I felt energised, alive and the interaction with my students was stimulating, rewarding and real.

In 2016 I moved full time to the Lycée Français to oversee the development of the Section Internationale. Convinced that I wanted to pursue a career in teaching, I completed the School Direct Salaried route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and was awarded QTS with the grade ‘outstanding’ in 2018. I returned to France in 2019 after accepting a teaching position in the Anglophone Section in Fontainebleau.

Several of my students at the Lycée Français went on to read History at university including one student who went to Worcester College! I am passionate about helping able students challenge themselves to reach their full potential and become outstanding historians. Perhaps our 4-year-old daughter is already showing a passion for history!
